Testing & Evaluation Combine

Drive for Diversity Combine

The Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine is a two-day event that allows selected drivers to showcase their skills in front of NASCAR officials, team owners, and industry media.

Combine participants take part in on-track testing and off-track media training and evaluation. Drive for Diversity affiliated team owners evaluate drivers and, based on performance, will select a driver to compete for their team for a full race season.

Areas of competition for the Combine include:
  • On-track assessment, including testing practice, qualifying laps, and intermediate runs in a Camping World Series stock car, and in-car communication between driver and crew
  • Off-track assessment, including media, sponsor, and public relations, media training, and mock-interview sessions

Twenty-four drivers, representing 14 different states and Mexico, were invited to showcase their skills before a panel of eight established NASCAR team owners for the 2007 Drive for Diversity Combine. Eight drivers, based on their performance at the Combine, earned the opportunity to compete with a Drive for Diversity affiliated team for the 2008 season. The historic South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Va. has hosted the Testing & Evaluation Combine for the past three years; the Combine was previously held at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va.
